Argentina - Stone forest

This particular site has the name of Reserva Geological Bosque Petrificado José Ormachea and tyrova about 30 km south of Sarmiento. This stock can be considered a real field of petrified trunks of conifers and deciduous trees were in the same position geological era of the Lower Tertiary (65 million years ago), when they were buried under tons of volcanic ash.

A small visitor center welcomes tourists accompanies them in the visit if required and meets doubts and curiosity. In addition to the short pedestrian circuit it is possible to visit by jeep the striking Valle de la Luna and Cerro Colorado, a hill by the extraordinary colors red-yellowish crossed by black.
